Clinical Director/Therapist/Yoga Instructor
Liz Close MS, LMHC
Change is inevitable, it's not always sunshine and rainbows...and sometimes these changes are completely out of our control! So then what? As your therapist, I believe the therapeutic relationship between us is just as important as the therapy process. I will support you, as well as challenge you. I will be honest and I will give you genuine responses- and in the same breath- provide empathy and understanding. I am willing to work as hard as you are when it comes to reaching your treatment goals. I come from a person-centered and strengths-based approach, with a focus on the connection between mental and physical health. I am interested in how you became the person you are today, and focus on future goals by processing the past. I utilize body based therapies in conjunction with talk therapy; because sometimes the body can say what the mind cannot. So, let's do this! You've already started the process by scrolling through profiles. I cannot promise that this process will be easy, but I will be here to sit with you through the difficult emotions...and I would be honored to be a part of your journey, with me, here at Branches of Growth in North Syracuse. |
Karly Locher, LCSWLife’s challenges can alter our perception of ourselves, others, and the world we live in. We can lose sight of our strengths and abilities and we often put others needs before our own. In doing so, we are disconnecting from painful emotions and cheating ourselves from being present in our everyday lives. Through therapy, we can learn to reconnect to the parts of ourselves we have neglected. I aim to provide a warm and non-judgmental space that allows for growth as well as relief from the burdens you are carrying each day.
I am a licensed clinical social worker, specializing in trauma-focused therapy. I have experience working with children, adolescence and adults providing individual, group, and family therapy. I am a fully EMDRIA accredited trained Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist. |
Jilleen Barfield, LMHC
I am passionate in my work with individuals, couples and families, helping clients navigate new pathways to acceptance, healing and emotional growth. I have built my practice around the values of trust, empathy, and non- judgment. I am here, and ready to help you take that most important first step.
My background in counseling has been primarily working with family dynamics. I enjoy getting to know all types of families and learning what strengths the family has, and also what needs to shift or change to create a healthier family environment. In this same light, I am passionate about working with individuals on their relationships. I am very interested in attachment traumas and how our relationships in our youth, have affected our current adult relationships, as well as the relationships we have with our children. I would explore these patterns with you and come up with a plan to concretely change these behaviors so you can stop repeating old habits and experience relationships that are healthier for you.
In addition to being a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I am a Certified Holistic Health Coach. This means I use a holistic approach to health through clean eating and exercise. I am passionate about acknowledging the connection between our mind and body. If you are someone who feels consumed with thinking about food or diet, exploring your relationship to food from a holistic health perspective can be relieving and motivate you to live life more balanced and care-free!
Authenticity is my motto. The world we live in can be so muddled with inauthentic relationships and expectations that may not be true to oneself. Figuring out what you want in life and how to get there can be overwhelming. I will do my best to create a safe, comfortable, and genuine relationship with you so you can generalize that into your life outside of the counseling sessions. Turning the conversations we have into real life steps to create change can be empowering and life-altering.
